Clairmarais is an art center located in a natural setting in the countryside of Norhtern Belgium
not far from the Netherlands. It has a gallery for art exhibition and has greeted artist from all
over the world for either one-man shows or collective showings around a central theme.

It is also a place of discussion around the role of man and
art today. In that perspective, Clairmarais has invited
philosophers, psychologists, politicians and writers for
discussion groups. Different possibilitities are offered to
artist who are concerned with the same themes and can
be discussed beforehand.

The calling of Clairmarais is found in the reflection on the
organization of the social structure able to reach a quality
of interiority by aestetics as well in the ethic grandeur.
The spirit of Clairmarais is finding, in the respect of history,
the will to contribute by artistic expression to the
development of more solidarity.

It is in that regard that Clairmarais wants to develop and
reach a position as mediation between men and women
of good will.
